Last Saturday I was on a ski trip with my sorority. Skiing isn't for me, but it probably should be, so I was on my snowboard. I like to think that I've gotten better throughout the years, considering I've being going since I was 12. But I haven't, really. I got my concussion by falling on my ass in a slow zone on a green trail. I was going straight and slow, clipped an edge, and the next thing I knew my feet were above my head and I was on the ground. For those of you who don't know, green trails are the easiest trails on the hill, besides the bunny slopes. While I was in the air during my fall, I knew it was going to be a hard hit, but I didn't have the time or reflexes to do anything about it. I landed on my butt first, and then my head did the classic "whiplash" move, and the back of it slammed onto the ground. Knocked the wind straight out of me, and I couldnt see for a hot sec. Needless to say I was mildly embarrassed. I just laid there in the snow for a few minutes, while children and asians alike all skied passed me. After mediocre cheese steaks and some chocolate covered sugar waffles, my car decided to go home. It wasn't until 7pm that night I went to the ER to discover I was concussed. Although, it was clearly evident to everyone around me.
Sunday thru Thursday I did absolutely nothing but sleep. Happens when you break your brain. It snowed and snowed and snowed on Wednesday night and thursday morning, straight into the afternoon. Lehigh, being the awesome place that it is, didn't cancel classes until the afternoon. Had to trek in the snow to my class. Not pleased.

So Thursday night, I was in bed, with Netflix, cuddled and ready to sleep, and Alec texts me that he's at Campus Square and I should hangout. It was their buddy Rob's twenty first birthday. I drive the two blocks there, since I'm sober, because ya know, concussed. Ended up at the frisbee house, AS per usual. Emily's boyfriend is the lead singer/guitarist of the local band Steel City Sunrise. To say that I don't fangirl when I'm around him would be a lie. To sum up the night in a few sentences: I dyed the tips of my hair pink, and Alec slipped on ice and sprained his ankle.
Thursday Night 1:12am
Alec: "I'm fine, my ankle is fine, don't worry about it"
Me: "yeah Okay"
Friday Morning 8:46am
Alec: "yeah my ankle is fucked"
Me: "mhm.."
By 9am I picked him up and was on the way to the Emergency Room. Him and I shouldn't be allowed in public together. We're loud and we play off of each other's ridiculousness, making our conversations wildly inappropriate.
Nurse: "Do you drink, smoke, or do drugs?"
Alec: "No."
Me: *stifles a laugh and shoot him an are-you-fucking-kidding-me look?"
Alec: "..Ok I drink"
Needless to say, we had a good time at the ER. Just a sprain, but it was nice and pretty colors and swollen. He got this sick Air Cast, and now he hobbles.Friday night, got dinner at La Lupita (my go to dinner place) with my friend Caroline from Ireland. She's an exchange student here, only here for a semester. We surprisingly have a lot in common, and I'm becoming more and more convinced to go study abroad in Ireland. we drove around after dinner, and she told me that she actually felt like she was at home. I actually broke out my CD case because she wasn't the biggest fan of my constant Taylor Swift. We settled on Bastille.
I'm really glad I stayed Friday night at Lehigh. You know why. It also worked out for the best because Alec's trip to Nicaragua that was supposed to leave Saturday morning got cancelled Friday afternoon. Classic. To say it was Alec's fault wouldn't be a total lie. oops. But, shit happens. Him and I had an awesome road trip today to Bradskis house. Brad's house is on the way home from Lehigh to my house, so no big deal at all. There was something about that car ride that just felt so right. Him and I just vibe really well. I won't get into detail because I can't bring you into that car ride with us, because if I did, you wouldn't get it anyway. It was just us, singing music, talking about life, and breaking some laws. But, not more than one law at once.
Saturday morning I was up super early, just because the sun was up. I made myself tea and sat in my pajamas in the kitchen listening to the music. Letting the morning just, be. I packed all of my clothes and things to go home. I threw some butter in a hot pan and cooked myself some eggs for breakfast. little salt, lots of pepper, on top of wheat toast. nice and runny, but not sunny side up. over easy. I had time to shower, blow dry my hair, straighten it, and load my car by 10 am. Waking up early is amazing. I think that I'm a morning person, once I'm actually awake. If you know me, you know I can sleep until noon without blinking an eye, but I have an appreciation for the morning. Especially as the days start getting longer. I love mornings. and being awake. I think this is what life is about. Waking up early and drinking tea and just sitting.
Managed to lose my house key today. That's number two. Not sure house I'm going to get back into my Lehigh house after break is over, but I'm sure I can figure it out. Think outside the box. Break in a window, whatever.
I'll be home all week for Spring Break. Exciting, I know. But it will be nice to relax, recover, and hangout with my fam and my pup, Ted. I plan on doing some morning runs with Ted on the boardwalk this week, because, well, I live at the beach. and I can.Have you ever seen the movie the Fifth Element? My parents turned it on, but then they went to bed and I'm suck here watching it on my own. I'm pretty sure it's a really good movie though. Haven't decided yet. All I want to do is watch fight club. I was suppose to watch it last night but I got distracted.
To all of my friends in warm places for spring break, I envy you. I hope you come back with a mild sunburn for me. You know how much I love sunburn. I always get sun burned. badly. Sunburns: bad for the skin, good for the soul.
Don't forget to set your clocks forward! Since daylight savings time is still so relevant, since we're farmers, and we need that extra hour to farm. and stuff.
