Hope You're Not Squeamish...

first off, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my wonderful Little, Cynthia. I'm sorry you're dying of the plauge/Ebloa. Love love love you.

I never truly realized how squeamish  I was until I was sitting in the doctors chair today and they were pulling medical wrappings off of my foot that were stuck to my stitches because they were sticky. And then she cut the stitches and pulled them out of my foot. The first thing I thought when I saw my ankle after the wrappings were removed was "that scar is bigger than I thought it was going to be". I was expecting two little tiny scars. and one of them is little and tiny, and one of them is about two inches long across my whole ankle. Once my brain was able to process everything that had happened, and I caught my breath and my body temperature went back to normal, I was relieved. My wounds healed really nicely, there's no infections, minimal bruising, and just a bit of numbness in my general foot area. I can bear as much weight as my foot will allow, as long as I'm using the crutches. Physical therapy starts Thursday, which sofie and Alexis (ahl-ex-ees) volunteered to drive me to.

*I'm going to post a picture of my ankle at the bottom of the post, so don't scroll all the way down unless you want to see it. *

So I get back from my doctor's appointment and I sit on the couch to do some homework. Becca leaves to go study for her 5pm exam, after we got home from my appointment. Ten minutes later, Sofie comes downstairs and sounds a bit disgruntled, saying something about a silver SUV. She then explained, when she got downstairs, that someone was parked in our driveway behind Rachel, and nobody knew whose car it was. We put a note on their windshield that read "GET YOUR CAR OUT OF OUR DRIVEWAY" in all caps, just like that. Eventually they moved. We didn't see whose car it was, but we thought about having it towed. #bitter #dontparkinourdriveway. Alexis just got back and found the letter on the ground. the didn't even take it with them. LITTER BUGS.

Alexis has sour straws, and they're red, and sour, and delicious. If you've never eaten them before, you should. She runs out to her car "Oh, I'm just going to grab a few packs for you guys" ... she comes back with 15 of them in her arms. This girl is too much. Never will there be a shortage of sour punch strawberry straws in this house.

I had something very thought provoking to write in my blog today that I thought of this morning, but I totally forgot what it was.

My only message to you today is to be happy. Don't take things for granted today. If you are in a situation and it isn't making you happy, change it. Just focus on yourself for a while. Don't make any drastic changes, or do,  but whatever you do, just do it for you. Don't do things for other people. I get so caught up with other people, and what they think, especially what they think of me, and it causes me so much discomfort. I just want to be happy, regardless of what anyone else is thinking or saying. So, my friends.. just do you. That's all. Don't worry about your clothes or money or your house or your grades or your weight or your face (which is beautiful btw) or your skin or your sexual orientation or anything. just be happy.

"the definition of suffering is wishing things were different than what they actually are"
so stop wishing, and start doing, and we won't have anymore suffering. Or just find inner peace with the way things are. Those are basically your two options.

I had dinner with NJ and Rach today at the Goose. Those sandwiches are magical. They're open late tonight for Alpha Phi's Cardiac Awareness Philanthropy Week. not sure exactly what it's called, but it's for a good cause nonetheless. I got the C3PO and it was a brilliant decision. Best decision I've had all day. We got into a conversation about who created the names for everything in the world, and why a "day" goes from sun up to sun down. We want to know who got to decide all of these things. I want to be one of those people. Nicole has a meeting with a pharmaceutical company that she's sent her resume to, good luck NJ! I hope they like you. and want you.

Taylor Swift tweeted about this one girl dancing to her song Shake it Off in the middle of a whole foods store, and I wish it were me. Because I love Taylor Swift. Here is the video, because it's actually funny.

So, here it is..
note the "yes" drawn on my foot.. so they know which one to operate on.

Shake it Off

Hi blog followers! Sorry it's been forever. I suck, I know.

So since today is national coming out day, I guess I will. I am bi-sexual. I don't really even know what that means, except that I have a wider range of people that I'm attracted to than say, a straight person would. I just like people for who they are. I'm not attracted to a specific gender. I don't really like labels. I don't want to be called gay, or lesbian, or bi-sexual. I don't want to be called anything except Aly. or Alex. or whatever you know me as. This coming out is more for me, than for you. So I can be confident and comfortable with who I am, not so you can be comfortable with who I am. It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks, because I have an amazing support system that has been there for me since last summer when I first starting having doubts about who I was and what I wanted. Thank you for being there for me, you all mean the world to me.

In case you're curious, I'm not offended by the word gay. Although, if you call anyone the word faggot, despite their sexual orientation, that's where I draw the line. It's a horrible, disgusting word, and I don't think it's necessary in the English vernacular.

I don't really have that much more to say about it. I'm not here to like, crusade over it. It is what it is. I hope you can find the inspiration to be happy with who you are, no matter who that person is, like I did.

one love;;

my big;;

and my best friend.

Since I haven't posted since the summer, I wanted to now that I'm back into the full swing of things at school. I was actually inspired by my friend Morag to post again, because I read her amazingly inspiring blog this morning. It is also mental health awareness week, and she had the courage to tell her story on her latest post. Morag you're such a strong person and I love you.

What's happened since summer?
I moved into my off campus house with four of my best friends, and it's been crazy ever since. I live in the attic room with bex, and we have a sweet TV set up, and way too much clothes for the amount of space we have. Sofie got me addicted to Farmville 2 and I'm not even sorry about it. We have one bathroom between the 5 of us, and the world's smallest kitchen.  I got the most amazing little in the world, she's perfect, and she just got initiated last night!! CONGRATS LITTLE. I love you!! I'm sorry I missed it. but ! I have my badge for you that you can have on Monday.

I sprained my ankle last semester and over the summer, and I never let it heal correctly, so when I finally got it looked at by an orthopedic this semester, the best option I had was surgery to fix it. So last friday Bex drove me to the surgical center at 6am (because she's a saint) and I got my ankle fixed. I got a sweet looking boot, and a pair of crutches, and lots of pain killers. I'm non-weight bearing until further notice, but I have an appointment on Monday, so I'll post then to letcha know what's up. It hurts sometimes, and actually, earlier today, my foot turned purple and my leg did too, and my leg had white spots on it. and the whole thing was tingly. Weird? I think so.

In other news, even though I don't play rugby right now, the rugby team kicked ass today 77-0. SO proud of you killers.

I have a software engineering midterm at 9am on Monday, and I'm home for the weekend to recover faster (or just eat ice cream and bathe in my parents extravagant bathtub, not too sure). My next plan of action is to study by making a study guide, and then sleep forever.

happy belated birthday to Carly Martz, who just turned 21! You old fart. I love you.

I love this new Ed song.

and this because I love taylor. she's the best.
