Let's Tessellate

Some songs to start off the post. Whenever I'm with my friends and they read one of my blog posts, I get upset that they don't listen to the songs I post while they read it. It changes the whole feel of the blog. The songs are chosen to accompany the writing. so, listen.

GUESS what day it is? Guess. What. Day. It. Is. that's right folks, it's Wednesday, again. It never fails to come. ever. always right after Tuesday and just before thursday. From what I've seen on this fine Wednesday, and from what I've seen since I've gone to this university, I've come to the conclusion that everyone is basically trying to fit in with everyone else. Joining fraternities/sororities, wearing the same trends, taking classes specifically with your friends, blah blah blah. WELL. One thing on my mind I've been seeing a whole bunch is Bean Boots. I just do NOT understand the bean boot fad. For those of you who don't know what they are..

They are a multipurpose, all-weather, boot. But, plenty of other boots like this exist. It just seems silly to me to see every other person on this campus wearing the same pair of boots. I mean I'm sure they're very practical and stuff, but are they THAT good that they've swept the campus by storm? I'm not sure. I'll just have to get a pair of my own and find out.

The post office is full of air heads. I just went in there today after class to tell them for the THIRD time that I am currently present on campus and that they should stop forwarding my mail home. Because I need it. Here. Not home. So I politely confront the desk receptionist and she goes and investigates and tells me that there was a little highlighted slip of paper in my mailbox that said "special request" so every time a piece of mail was supposed to go to my mail box, they saw the special request slip, looked at the computer, saw it needed to be forwarded (From last semester) and then proceeded to forward it. Well done, Post office. Bravo.

Second Rugby practice was last night. 8:30 instead of 10:30. Would've been perfect except Becca and I were late because we were home at my house during the day because I had a doctor appointment. Funny story, ready? So Emily Mac and I both have Dr. Appointments yesterday (yes we planned it that way) so I texted Becca Rath and was like come home with us for the trip. My car feels off a bit the whole trip (possibly because of my own doing) but by the time we got home, which we nearly didn't, Bruce was smoking and smelled horrible. A minor wave of panic came over me that I am stuck in point pleasant without a car. And then a few bouts of sadness because I was upset I might have to say good bye to Bruce for good. But luckily with a lot of help and sacrifice from my parents on both sides, I ended up with my Grandmother's nearly new (2002 but never driven) Jeep. As soon as I got into it, it was like a dream. His name is Cliff. and he's beautiful. The only problem is that He only has a CD player, doesn't even have an AUX jack. Stock speakers, basically just crap 2002 nonsense. If any of you have ever been on a trip in Bruce with me, you'll know that music is a vital part of the Aly Lang Driving Experience. But honestly, I could not be more grateful for everyone involved in my new car, mostly just my parents (hi mom how's kitty?). You guys are the best. I'm currently sitting in my bed, writing this blog post, between classes, burning CDs for Cliff so I can have music, wearing the new rugby shorts that came today in the mail (which is the other reason I was in the post office today), waiting for Ron to put out lunch for us at noon.

Funny things I heard today :

"I need a scarf for my face" ... " well I need a scarf for my body"

"What gives me the right to do that you ask? A dapper tie on a Wednesday morning"

"Sorry Officer, I had to drive, I was too drunk to walk"

yep, so that's it.

Valentine's Day is coming up. Anyone wanna be my Valentine? HMU.

xoxo gossip girl

lolz. jokes.

kk enjoy.

bye.

Wicked Awesome

Finished out the school week simple enough. Since we had no plans to go out this weekend, Rachel offered to take me home with her up to Boston. One of the best "yes's " I've made in a long time. Rachel and I are friends through a mutual friend, but the basis of our friendship is looking at each other and laughing. Pretty solid base I would say. But five hours in a car both ways, and an entire weekend together seemed like a reasonable step in our friendship. HA. Got a final goodbye dinner with Bex at Campus pizza and then we got the Hell out of Lehigh. Deuces for the weekend. The drive up was filled with lots of story sharing, it's funny the things you realize you don't know about people when you're alone with them for a long time. Got to MA no problem. All Massachusetts towns have a creepy aura about them. They're all old, and they all have a certain look about them. Like you won't see towns like these in any other states. Her house is in the middle of some woods sort of. Since our arrival was approx 12am, the only family member I got to meet before morning was Zoey. Zoey is a 60lb adorable 2 year old black lab. Her dream in life is to be sitting in someone's lap for every single second she is alive. Cuddle monster, that one. Watched Disney Pixar's Brave because why not? And passed the fuck out hard. Saturday morning , "wanna go eat?" She forgot to even brush her teeth she was so excited to go eat. Well, that and the fact that she didn't HAVE a toothbrush because she forgot it at school. Whoops. Breakfast was superb. Cute little local place, Bristol Square Cafe. French Toast and Eggs and Bacon please and thank you. Onward to the Apple store, one of the sole reasons Rachel needed to come home this weekend, to pick up the computer she hasn't had this entire time at school. Mission accomplished. Did I mention she drives a stick shift? I feel like we're in a race car every time we drive, and that doesn't even have anything to do with her extremely aggressive driving style. Well, okay it does, but it's more the shifting. After an afternoon of homework for me and napping for her, we decided to take a trip into Boston since, why not? My cousin Josh lives there, so I give him a text and he's all for it. So after a hilarious dinner at a place called Clyde's with Rach and her parents, we were off to boston. Clyde's was a cool bar style BBQ place with real good burgers. The table cloths were pieces of thick brown paper and came equipped with crayons to keep you amused while they make you wait for your food.
Mr and Mrs got into a HEATED pick up sticks competition.

Time to get our Boston on. saw some famous Citgo sign. Rach said even if Citgo went out of business, they would probably keep the sign up anyway. Interesting.
Found Josh's house with almost no trouble. This is such a random trip and I love it. I have been trying to visit Josh at school for three and a half years, never have. and If I didn't say yes to Rach when she asked, then it wouldn't have happened. I'm a very big advocate of saying yes. It usually ends up way better than saying No. In most situations anyway. Some situations, obviously you should say no but. This was not one of those situations. Since Lucas goes to BU, I called him and had him and his friends come over and meet us a Josh's. We get inside and the rest is history. But I will give you some highlights, not revealing certain details as to WHO did which of these things, but I really just want you all to know they happened because they were hilarious.

While brushing their teeth, they let the tooth paste dribble all the way down their chin, and then proceeded to spit it all over the mirror. Then, threw a 90-second fit because the toothpaste was Aquafresh and not Crest.

"I have to poop, but I'm not going to. I'm just going to suck it in. Suck it in my butt."

"is 'cum' in the dictionary?"

Peeing on the side of a building.

Sitting on the couch next to me with their arm around me, and licking my face.

"I don't have my 18 year old ID" .... but all of your IDs have your birthday on them...

"slay me with your.."

And many many more. Fell asleep on the couches watching some crazy movie with Steve carrel and Olivia Wilde about magicians. Woke up in Josh's luscious bed with a tempur pedic mattress and a tempur pedic mattress topper. Toured Boston all morning and saw lots of historical things and such. Lunch at Quincy Market. Chinese Food. Bought pastries from Mike's Pastry place or something, and got hot chocolate at a cafe next door. It was so cold walking around I felt like my ears and phalanges were going to fall off. We spent a decent amount of time making fun of and dissecting New Jersey vs. Boston accents. Saw the Harbor and Beacon Hill and other such places.

Back to Rachel's house for quick dinner with her parents, running a bit behind schedule, we peace out quick to get on the road. Don't wanna be home too late, classes tomorrow. Another five hours in the car with Rachel, some deep convos, lots of laughing at random shit, lots of stories, oh my fuck. speaking of stories. That girl has the absolute worst health history I've ever heard. ew. I almost fainted from just listening to it. Any time you're in contact with her, just go ahead and ask her about it. just say "oh rachel, have you ever been to the hospital?" and then just wait. We, and by we I mean rachel, took one wrong ass turn and one time we just blatantly missed the exit for the bridge, costing us approximately an hour on our trip home. WOOPS. sorry not sorry. Almost don't want to be back at Lehigh because this trip was so much fun. Basically I just don't want to do work. But , ya gotta. So, I end this post hoping you all had a good of a weekend as we did, and I hope your Monday morning isn't too shitty either. My 9am class was cancelled so things are already looking up. Positive thinking, my friends.

Do you Wanna Build a Snowman?

Last we spoke was before my first rugby practice.. It is now two days later and my legs are still killing me. I was walking out of my computer science class today, came to a flight of stairs I wasn't expecting, and I almost turned around to find another route. I'm such a baby. Besides the pure pain from the workout, I like rugby, and I'll give it another try next week as well.

I've decided the parking meters at Lehigh are just another scam for money. As if we don't pay them enough. I've driven down to classes every day since school has started, and I never put in enough money for the amount of time I'm parked, not once. And I've never gotten a ticket. Yesterday, I didn't even put money in. It was too cold and I just was like fuck it no one will care. I was parked on the main road for two hours and no ticket. I'm telling you, it's all a ruse.

Yesterday something amazing happened that only happens once in a blue moon. Lehigh cancelled all afternoon classes due to SNOW! Everyone's excitement exploded like fireworks as people checked their phones to see the e-mail of cancellation. You could just imagine gleaming faces of students all across campus who could turn around and go right back to bed, or never wake up in the first place. I, on the other hand, had all morning classes and didn't really get to revel in the snow-day-ness, but it still was a nice feeling to see everybody else have off. I stayed in the house all day, watching the snow pile high against the doors and windows thinking to myself "wouldn't it suck to have to be outside right now". But then later on, Nicole, Becca and I couldn't resist driving down to Zoellner to play in the big field of snow. Hats and coats on, boots tied tight, we made our way down in my trusty Jeep, Bruce. He's a tank. Never fails to impress me. After sufficient romping in the snow (still sorry for that high tackle Bec) with fingers and toes frozen like icicles, we decided to call it a night. And that's where my love of snow ended.

Whenever I wake up and see a sunny day, I always mistake sunlight for warmth. Today was a perfect blue bird day, sun was shining, pretty white snow was fluffy on the ground. It was all swell and dandy before I actually set foot outside, where I faced the whipping snowy winds and was miserable. It was cold. It was slippery. My car thermometer read "-1". Polar Vortex Round Two? NO thanks. I think Elsa just caused another snowpacolypse using her Cryokinesis power.
I walked a total of twenty-five feet from my car to the building and my face was frozen. Our driveway isn't plowed, our walkways weren't plowed, the snow kept blocking the door of the house from shutting causing the alarm to go off everytime someone came in or out. It was a nightmare. I love winter, but just.. not when I have to be out in it. If the weather doesn't warm up, this snow is just going to sit here and stare me in the face every day mocking me. Saying, "go ahead, try and walk on me. you'll fall. and then you'll be wet and cold and miserable". I just know it.
My day was made brighter by two little cuties waiting outside of my class for me today. We walked to the post office together. I miss you already <3

Here's to wishing for warmer weather

The Story of my Life

Happy 16th Birthday to my little brother Frankie!!!! ~~~~ love you pal.

Thank you Emilia for this song . The only One Direction song I'm not ashamed of liking.

Sundays are always the laziest days. Sundays are for sleeping in, and football and friends and beer. Sundays are for wearing sweatpants and sitting around the living room playing cards and watching Frozen on repeat. All of your work, and your chores, and your errands, and your homework should be done on Saturday. Do your laundry on Saturdays. Go to the gym. and then, go out Saturday night. Make your mistakes on Saturday. Make your Saturdays as busy as possible. Not busy with busy work, but busy with things that are productive. That way, Sunday can be whatever you want it to be. Sunday is for cleaning casually, so when you start your week on Monday, you have a clean slate. Sunday can be for sleeping in, eating brunch, and going back for a nap. There is nothing better than a Sunday done right. Sunday is for friends and food and jokes and fuzzy socks and comfy pants.

"He's the cutest thing since sliced bread"
- Nicole Johnson

I didn't know sliced bread was cute..

This Monday morning started early as usual, alarm set for 7:30. Honey Nut Cheerio's for breakfast. Drove a full car down to park on Packer avenue. Guess who didn't know about free parking this morning. This girl. Guess who paid full price for parking today. This girl. Sweet. What school has classes on MLK day anyway? Lehigh, get your life together. Why can't you be like everybody else?

My ece83 class (intro to electrical engineering) is fantastic. I love it. It reminds me a bunch of senior year physics e&m. and it's fun, lots of voltage and circuits and such.

Over heard today:
Girl: "he bought her 'I'm sorry' flowers"
Boy: "how do those work..?"
Girl: "Well.. she's pretty. and flowers are pretty."

wow. That's quite the concept.

Professor Best brought his daughter, Charlotte, into class today as a guest star. He advertised that she is selling girl scout cookies in his office today. I just so happen to be heading to his office after class today. How could I deny buying cookies from this little girl? Home to the house to eat cookies and milk and do dynamic vector mechanics problems.
Snap chat is so underrated. I think it's great. and I don't trust people who don't snap chat. So Greg Potter has been explicitly told he is not allowed to help people with CSE 202 homework. HA. that's actually a shame. #GregPotterProblems. Ron made frozen pizzas and tuna melts and soup for lunch. mmmm. My favorite part about lunch is taking a nap after lunch. which I did. Until Finley woke me up and drove me to class. After sitting in CSE 297 for fifty minutes of pure HTML goodness, I get a snap chat from Becca saying 'come nap with me.' Nap? HELL yes. Class is over at 2, and I was out of there faster than you can say quidditch. Speaking of quidditch, I have my first Rugby practice tonight. I'm kind of excited. (yes mom, I signed up for rugby). I think learning something new and getting involved with another group of people would be good for me. Plus Becca and Nicole already play rugby.. and I love them.. and Rachel signed up for it too. Oh and Marcela plays rugby too. And since she's basically my role model, and took me to a rugby social once and it was the best time I've ever had, I should probably give it a shot. Three plus reasons right there to try it out.

As I was walking out of my class I notice my boot was untied, so instead of bending down to tie it, I just swung my leg up and did a sort of lunge against the wall.. thinking I was alone, and this man in a suit and tie walks past me and goes "nice stretch". In a very genuinely impressed tone.. like.. what? Story of my life.

I couldn't agree more with this list .

this is what happens when you take selfies on my phone. they get blogged. Sorry not sorry.

Pompeii

First things first, this song. It is flawless.

stuck in my head like no tomorrow. You're welcome.

Thursday involved an impromptu doctor appointment back at home, everything's alright for the most part. Just gotta keep going. Can't stop won't stop. Phrase of the night tonight. had to miss class friday Friday because I was home. Since Emac was home due to her wisdom tooth issue, we could drive back together Saturday. Lehigh seems to plague us Point Pleasant girls. My kitties got fat since I left. Watched the movie 21 and Over. I recommend it. It was definitely better than I thought it was going to be.

Drove back this morning, nice and quick. It's like a second hand drive. I know it by heart. So basically I can put myself into auto pilot and let my mind wander for two hours. Emac was great company though. We had an interesting conversation about what we want to do with the rest of our lives. and how America is going downhill because we aren't bad ass enough. Especially compared to the UK, the rest of Europe, and basically the whole world.. We're pathetic.

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=686918794686819 << this is proof. it's also disgusting. but proof. This video also makes me hate the internet.

So Morag had to go to the hospital today for a sprained ankle.  :( Sending my love 3,500 miles across the Atlantic for you babe. <3 Speaking of sprained ankles, Jenna sprained her ankle too this week. Its disgusting and bruised.

yep. that's Jenna.

Day 5 of Lockdown.

Soxy, steph, sam, fiene, and maybe jenna went to NYC tonight. Pachas bitchess.  Emac, Victoria, Nicole, Emilia, Becca, some boys and I went ice skating at Steel Stacks. I actually got the hang of it for a while. and they played good music so we could sing and skate and stuff. and the boys were cute. Although at one point some old guy cut me off and fell and then I fell. It was a massive wipe out. Knee then hip then sprawled out starfish style on my back on the ice. Laid there for a while before picking myself and my dignity up off the ice. Becca got hit on by the 17 year old skate attendant. Illegal? yep. Did she get his number at least? nope. pathetic. But it was too obvious she was a girl from Virginia on ice skates. Clearly not in her element. Although, most falls goes out to Emac. she ate it so many times. classic Emac. I accidentally took a guy out.. well.. he took himself out.. on me.. while I was video taping nicole and victoria. Woops. Sorry not Sorry. He just ran right into me. So many blisters. Note to self: never go ice skating with ankle socks and jeans. always wear long socks. My calves are killing me. Time to nurse myself back to health by sleeping a whole lot. Alarm set to never tomorrow. Becca might come sleep over since Fiene is out and Rachel will probably not sleep at home tonight either. All I want is a frozen cookie dough ball microwaved. mmm. I'm not gonna do it though. gotta look fit, right?

Earlier tonight Becca asked me to say something I liked about myself and something I didn't like about myself, and I couldn't think of much for the like. So I want you to tell someone something you like about yourself and something you don't. See if you can do it.

Ugh. SOsore. so so sore. Just want my bed.

Summertime Sadness

Three days into classes and it's been more than exciting to say the least. Our sorority is suspended until further notice. I'm not explaining it any further, because honestly, it's none of your business. but I figure I can share that here because the dean of students sent out an entire email describing our situation to the entire greek community. Sweet. Investigate away, Lehigh. I just want to be able to talk to our girls again. </3 Seeing them around campus and not being able to really talk to them almost literally breaks my heart. So make it quick.

My classes are as follows: Intro to Electrical Engineering, Dynamics of Vector Mechanics, Web Applications, and Computer Architecture and Organization. I am a total nerd and ordered all new pens, pencils, notebooks, and erasers from Staples dot com. They came today in the mail. and I was happy about it.

this was my walk down this morning. 7:50 am. Thats the back of Nicole Fiene.

Wanna hear my daily activities today? Okay here we go. HUMP DAAAY. The weather today was shit. It was foggy all. day. and misting. and cold. I woke up to Fiene's alarm at 7am, and it scared the shit out of me. Honestly. It's like, the typical "alarm" alarm. and it's so bad. We were the only ones in the shower that early. Walked down to class today with sasha and sonali and jen finley. 8:10 and 9:10, BOTH with Bill Best, my favorite teacher ever. Because he's my advisor. He called me out in Electrical today to answer his question. He literally Pointed at me. and was like you. you don't understand that its a lecture of like... 200 people. I got the answer right, but still. Makin me nervous. THEN. I went home after 10am when class was over. and I napped, I napped from 10:15 - 12:45. Then I woke up, ate some lunch and went to my 1:10 class. over at two. took the bus back up to the house. GYM TIME. gotta get fit right? I got a lift from Emily and her mother, because she's on her way home to Point Pleasant because her wisdom teeth hole is infected. A month after she got them taken out. Poor emac. Come back soon. The gym was absolutely packed. I just want everyone to get over their New Year's Resolutions and gtfo. Go home. Like going at 2:30 should not mean having to wait ten minutes for a treadmill or a bike. and having to do my ab workout on the carpet NEXT to the mats because there wasn't an open spot for ten minutes. Now I have rug burn. COoOOoool.  Saw Brad at the gym! I miss Brad. Then, walked myself to Campus Square and picked up my mail. Package from Staples. aforementioned in the paragraph above. I love getting packages. Online shopping is an addiction and I love it. I just love getting packages. It's like presents to myself from myself. OH so I learned today that you can pay for parking with a credit card instead of quarters. I am officially driving to class as many days as possible. the Club Expo was in the University Center upstairs, signed up for University Productions so I can say I'm in a club, and maybe meet someone famous. Also signed up for rugby. Just to hangout with Becca more. and NJ. <3. Then, went home, showered, and napped from 4:30 - 8. I've been hanging out in the kitchen since 8. If we weren't on suspension, we would be allowed to go do other things, but we don't want to screw anything else up, so we are staying at the house until it's lifted. I'm currently here blogging, while Haley, Danielle D (double D), and Madison do homework. I don't have any homework yet. I'm a little worried that I do and I'm just not doing it, but I honestly don't think I do. Plans for the rest of the night? Watch food network in my room with Fiene and whoever else wants to.

Some highlights of tonights kitchen time are:

Emilia wearing a poop suit. (brown sweatpants brown sweatshirt). I tried Kale. Betsy did a one-legged squat for us.

tonights poop suit fiasco.

this is from two days ago. LOL. emily kills me.

I miss the summer and the warm weather.

Bid Day

Woke up today and rolled myself out of bed. Showered alone. well, I typically shower alone.. I mean nobody else was in the other 4 showers. Set up started at noon. We were all so anxious and excited to see the list of new members you could feel a buzz of energy around the house. It came in an e-mail around the same time they would've been receiving their bids. Obsessed. These ladies are amazing. The time between when we got the list to when we were lined up in our cars getting ready to pick them up flew by. Especially since Victoria had me trapped in her room adjusting the google docs calendar for the chapter to have. You're welcome. It was alright thought because I had a 2nd crepe I brought back from the Crepe Place, Full of Crepe, because yes, that's right, I ate two crepes in one day. But, recruitment is over, which means I'll be eating like a normal human again so my pants still fit.

Picture this.. twelve cars, decorated all over with "royalty on board" "zeta tau alpha" "ZTA", blasting dance music, all in a train following one another, honking their horns like crazy packed with girls all screaming. That was us (and every other sorority on the hill at various other times) on our way to pick up our girls. It was insane, and honestly I could relive that moment over and over. Once all of our girls were picked up, time to go to the house to celebrate. Enough said. Welcome Home girls. not four years, but for life <3

Day 7: Anything Can Happen

The past three days have been a total whirlwind. Don't even know where to start. Rounds two and three of Recruitment are over. Just Pref round tomorrow night and then BID DAAAY. (said like Hump daaay). I never. ever. want to hang another set up bistro lights again. I got orders to hang them in the kitchen one way, and as soon as i finished hanging them, one of our advisors who was visiting came over and said to redo them because the angles were too big. Up the ladder, take the hook out, take the lights down, down the ladder, move the ladder, repeat. Once they're all down, Up the ladder, put the hook in, put the lights up, down the ladder, move the ladder, repeat. Stop. Drop dead. Someone decided to set up all of the tables in their before I was finished hanging the lights, so there was the occasional shoving of six tables out of the way to get the ladder through.

When we were standing in line today waiting for one of our rounds to start, since I had the computer and speakers out, I started playing music for us to sing along to. Little did I know, it would turn into a full blown dance party. There were not one, but two full blown dance parties today. Another one cropped up when we were taking down decorations upstairs. These girls are too much. Every moment has potential to be a dance party, doesn't matter where we are or what we're doing.

Every time my roommate walks into our room and I'm in there she jumps. She isn't used to having a roommate. It's really funny.

Today I had a battle with the financial aid office. Well, that's just where it started. Ready? I couldn't register for classes because the bursar's office had a hold on my account. The bursar's office had a hold on my account because the financial aid office didn't pay them yet with all of my financial aid. The financial aid office didn't apply my financial aid because I wasn't registered for classes. Notice how we've come full circle here. Each office blamed the other one for why I couldn't register yet and why I still had a hold on my account. First I went to the financial aid office. They sent me to the registrar's office. They sent me to the Bursars office. FINALLY they were the first one's to tell me "Hey, you don't owe the school $16,689.99 in two days in order to register for classes on Monday. You actually don't owe anything because of your financial aid. Let me lift that hold for you". I cried I was so happy. Classes registered for, Praises sent to God and Allah and Jesus and whoever else. Gods of Lehigh's Bursar's office.

I took a break from hanging the lights tonight and ate dinner. Ron made mexican taco fixings again to clean out the fridge to have room to cook tomorrow. They were just as good this time too. I sat on the kitchen floor by myself and ate them. (we don't have tables to eat on because they're all set up for Pref round). And then I had Chips Ahoy and milk. and then I poured cereal in my milk cup. and then I drank the milk. I have no shame.

Our VP III of recruitment, Lauren, has to use a walkie talkie to keep in touch with the other VPs of recruitment in the other houses as well as the people in charge of recruitment. It keeps every house synchronized down to the minute. The walkie talkie has to be picked up at 8am and dropped off by 9pm. Since I'm a nice person, whenever Lauren asks me to drive her to get it I always say yes. So tonight, as we're walking to my car, we notice the parking lot is covered in black ice. We don't think anything of it. To get to our parking lot, you have to come up this really steep drive way, and on our way down it, I'm hitting the breaks to stop at the stopsign at the bottom and I notice I'm not slowing down. It's like I don't even have brakes. I put them to the floor and it doesn't make a single difference. We slide right through the stopsign and into the middle of the street until we slowly bump the curb perpendicular to us across the street. We're like, fuck. How are we gonna get back up? Might as well go down and drop off the walkie talkie since we can't go up anyway. We make it down the hill fine, and we make it all the way back up to where we went through the stop sign fine. As soon as we turn onto the hill to go up to Zeta I know we're fucked, I can feel it. I'm on the gas and I just hear tires spinning and then the back of my car starts drifting to the far right until it finally lands in the bank of snow. Cool. Totally stuck. One car tries to pull out of AXO and doesn't, and another Zeta is stopped on the side of the hill. Another two of our girls' cars pulls in behind me. Doesn't even bother trying because I'm sideways at this point. So of course I call my mom. or rather, she calls me. Lauren is out of the car at this point having a minor panic attack. Mom tells me put it in 4 wheel drive lo and creep out of there. I did, and it worked, but it was a little scary not gonna lie. It was sooo slow and I kept sliding left and right, with barely any traction. Never again do I want to experience black ice. I'm not leaving the house until the weather is above freezing and there's been no recent precipitation.

My neck is super sore from holding up my fat head all day, I can't wait to bury my face in my voluptuous king sized pillows and sleep until whenever we have to wake up. I don't even know when we have to. Not caring. Not even a little bit.

I watched this video about a man who plays with wild lions. I like it.

I am loving ellie this week

Day 4: Timber

Round one of Recruitment was a total success. To say we killed it was an understatement. Slip ups here and there are fixable with practice and more time, and tomorrow is going to be so much better. I tasted a Macaroon for the first time today, let me tell you, it is like the sweet nectar of the Gods. There are few things I wouldn't do to get my hands on a Macaroon. I suppose the most logical one would just be to buy them. Ah well. Waking up at 7am is slowly becoming a habit (remember forming habits take 21 days so hopefully I'll break the habit by the time classes start). After singing, talking, breathing, more singing, more talking, less breathing, more shouting, more hellos and goodbyes and how ya doin where ya from, I can already feel like I'm going to lose my voice. Oh the woes of Rush Week. Ron made us pesto chicken and our VPIII lauren bought like 11 2-liter bottles of soda for dinner (she needed them for a craft) so we sat under the stair case in a little alcove and had ourselves a little family dinner. Moments like these are the ones we'll remember when we look back on past recruitments..

"It's like a sorority sweatshop in here"

"I saw Emily Poche with cookie dough and a diet coke, so I got cookie dough and a diet coke..... I don't even like diet coke"
-Sofie Coopersmith

"A luke warm hotdog is better than a piping hot one, and better than a frozen one"

"A day without peanut butter isn't a day at all. Doesn't exist in my calendar"
- Fiene

After today, I know how to make a paper airplane in about 8 seconds flat. And I never want to make another paper airplane again. In case you were curious about the peanut butter comment, Fiene loves peanut butter. like... it's the bane of her existence. If Fiene didn't have peanut butter at least once a day, the world would stop spinning and we'd all die. So in our room, at any given time, is at minimum two jars of peanut butter, one loaf of bread, and a jar of grape jelly. Don't hate, appreciate. Our room is also now absolutely freezing. We have a reasoning behind that. Our to room was super hot the other day so we cracked the window for a few minutes and then shut it again, and since then it's been freezing. We must have upset the college dorm room God's or something because the windows been closed for a day and it's still cold. The struggle. Oh and also, Lehigh email is Completely fucking me over now that it's coming through a Gmail account. My accounts are like, tied together and connect and it's screwing with my blogger and my YouTube account and it's just like. . Why Lehigh? Why? Why couldn't you have just kept it on the Lehigh website. why did you make it through Gmail? No patience for this blasphemy. None.

So in other news.. the Zeta Tau Alpha national President, Keeley McDonald-Riddle, is here for a day of our recruitment. We couldn't be more honored and flat out ecstatic that she's here. It's not everyday your national president is chillin in your house. Some chapters never get to meet her at all, like she's some big mythical being or something, and we're fortunate enough to have her personally for recruitment. Thanks Mrs. Riddle!

Basically tomorrow and the rest of the week, we're gonna keep trying to kick ass and take names, and hopefully have tons more fun along the way. Get ready for day two tomorrow gals!

I love me some Emac <3

enjoy!

Day 3: Turn Down for What

I'm typing this with freshly painted this with freshly painted nails so bear with me. Today's schedule is as grueling as yesterday's. Decorating, workshops, rehearsals, practices, cleaning, taping, hanging, painting, clipping, cutting, pasting, moving, moving back, sliding, rolling, breaking (woops), and all other sorts of verbs. I was cleaning glass fishbowls for Hillary and one of them shattered in the sink and I sliced two of my fingers. woops. it looked like I murdered somebody in the bathroom sink. And then I managed to lose my laundry basket. Fiene and I were changing out of our nicer clothes, since we're roommates, and we decided to match our outfits head to toe, just for shits and gigs.  Brown Lehigh sweatpants, gray tank top, red white and blue flannel. Just to see if anybody would notice. Lunch was a total modge podge mish mosh of food. I don't even know what was there. like a Turkey, cheese, and marinara sauce quesadilla, some tator tots, some chicken caesar wraps and ham and cheese wraps, uh, oh and pirogues. like.. what? but food's food I guess. So remember the time I told you about never wanting to hang lights again? well I had to re-hang all of the lights I already hung the other day. Sweet. totally.. "they're hanging too low." but the seniors yesterday told us to hang them that low. "well ya gotta fix them". jokes on jokes on jokes. Ah well. We were busy worker bees until FINALLY at 7:45 I caught a break and I high-tailed it out of here like nobody's business. Where to, you ask? Target. Finally purchased pillows. I've never been happier than I was when I was walking out of Target holding those pillows in my arms. Along with pillows I bought pillow cases (that awesome jersey tshirt material), a two pack of tooth brushes, toothpaste(aquafresh - cavity fighting, obviously) , body wash(olay ribbons almond oil flavoured) , tide laundry pods (which are the shit and I love them), and nail clippers. $90 .. target gets me every single time. but it was so worth it. Home for more decorating, a little bit of down time with the lovely roomie (Fiene). Steph and Lendy and Soxy were there for a bit as well. Fiene's already in bed asleep so Imma wrap this up so I can go to sleep too, Tomorrow is the first day of recruitment!! Everyone's super excited, the energy is really high, everything's gonna go great. To any of my sisters reading this, get fuckin pumped. To anyone else in greek life, you know how it goes. To the rest of the world, I couldn't even explain it if I tried.

Day 2

Rise and shine, 7:45 coming sooner than expected. Although getting up wasn't an issue because I love showering. a little too much really. it was hot and wonderful. Threw on some clothes, not even caring what it was. Leggings and a spirit jersey as per usual. Ron (our chef) ordered bagels to be delivered for breakfast, and they were there in the kitchen after I got dressed. OH HAPPY DAY. nothing says good morning like a face full of carbs and cream cheese.

Let's get down to business .. (to defeat, the huns) .. the only free time we had today was from noon to 1pm. which consisted of me stuffing my face with pizza. you can see a trend here.. stuffing my face with deliciously dangerous carbs. So many more girls in the house arrived today it's finally starting to feel like it should. Emac decided to pick the Right day to go to her meeting this time, so I dropped her off after lunch down on campus. Funny story about Emac. Her meeting got out at 3:30, and nobody picked her up until 5. Which was me, by the way. I would've gone sooner but she didn't ask anyone for a ride except Lauren who is too busy to know her own name right now let alone go pick up Emac. So Em if you're reading this, sorry for leaving you there for an hour and a half. I still love you. The drive back up to the house was a bit interesting to say the least. There was a misty type of rain coming down earlier and then the weather got below freezing, so every car in our parking lot was frozen solid, with thick, thick ice. As well as the entire walkway and parking lot. So needless to say, trying to go down the hill and then back up it was not an easy task. All for you Emac. Only time I left the house today. Pretty sure we're all going to have cabin fever after this week. After today all I can say is I never want to hang another string of lights again. Ron made Taco fixings for dinner and I thought I was in heaven. Food. Plate. Face. Repeat. 9 pm and I'm ready for bed. never thought I'd see the day.

knees up, heads down, phones out.

Something I stumbled across on the internet today:

"No snowflake in an avalanche ever feels responsible"
- the internet

It makes you think a little bit, doesn't it? When you're doing something bad in a group of people, you feel less responsible for it. But say if you did something good in a group, you would totally own up to it. Just a friendly reminder that you should be held accountable all of your actions, whether other people around you are doing them too or not.

and also these:

Time for bed and dreams about ice cream and fried oreos. mmm. Thats all I want.
Also, still no new pillows. maybe tomorrow.

Day 1

Going to sleep with wet hair is never a good idea. I woke up and looked like cousin it. First thing in the morning on the day I go back to Lehigh and my hair is a mess. Wet brush, flat iron, come on. look normal. pony tail? sorted. Pack the car in the below freezing weather. It's approximately 11 degrees. Everything fits, perfect. Time to pick up Emac, since we both go to the same school and are in the same sorority and live in the same house, it seems like a sin to not drive up to school together whenever possible. T-Mac (emily's momma) offers me a porkroll egg and cheese sandwich for breakfast on the road, yes PLEASE. ugh. then we're off. Jamming out hardcore to a CD made by the only and only betty, who got a backstage tour of Annie on Broadway today..... jealous much??? about FIVE minutes from campus we hit stopped dead traffic for two miles. Sweet. cool. we actually saw a guy BACK his car up for half a mile down the shoulder. And somebody turned flat around on an entrance ramp to the highway. They pulled up, saw the traffic, and turned straight around and headed back down the one way lane. Finally make it to the house and we're the only girls in the house besides Poche. But she left to go eat anyway, so it was just Emac and me. More and more girls arrived, lots of hellos and I miss yous. Emac was very adamant about making it to her 1pm meeting on time, and of course I volunteer to take her because campus is covered in snow so she doesn't have to walk. As I'm on my way back the house after dropping her off, I get a phone call, from her. "I hate myself.. my meeting is tomorrow" haha I'll be right back, don't worry Emac. At least it wasn't yesterday. Ah well. back to the house to unpack until Recruitment Workshop at 2. BECCA <3. Finally reunited. " don't leave me ever again ". I love this friendship. Recruitment business from now until 10 pm with a break from 5-8 approx. FOOD.  chipotle mmmmmm. I love guacamole too much for life. time to unpack the rest. take a nap. mmm.

Schedule for tomorrow? Gotta be ready at 9:00am SHARP. Alarm set for 7:45, shower, and hopefully there is no dress code tomorrow so I can wear sweats. Already planning a morning trip to Dunkin' for drinks and muffins.

List of things I needed to bring but didn't:
Pillows
more pillows
a blanket
ZzzQuil
uhm, more clothes?
Mocassins

Late night watching Food Network with my roomie and Steph, always a good time. The ridiculousness of the topics we talk about is too much.

Talk Dirty

Ah first post of the new year. and my 50th post! Headed into 2014, I'm keeping my expectations realistic. Passing my classes, going to the gym, sleeping more, ya know, resolutions that most people make but don't really stick to. There's one resolution that I've decided on that isn't something I can really try for, but merely hope for. I'm hoping for new problems than the ones I had last year. I don't want to continuously be bothered by last year's problems. They happened last year, and they're done. I'm over them. I want a new set of problems. I want things that challenge me and will make me a better person. I want problems to make me question everything I'm doing, and make me think in ways I never have. I want a class that has a concept I've never heard of before and didn't knew existed. I want to meet someone that drives me crazy in the best way possible, and someone that drives me crazy in the worst way possible. I want to be able to do something that nobody else knows how to do, or at least, not everybody. I want to be literate. I want to finish novels, not TV series on Netflix. I want to hold intelligent conversations as often as I have goofy conversations. I want to be able to make social references and not have jokes go over my head. Granted some of these resolutions are things that already happen, I want to keep them up this year too. I want to resolve to keep trying to be more awesome than I was the day before. I am going to resolve to tell myself how it is, keep it real with myself. I'm going to take advantage of not feeling lonely, because you're in this world alone, so in those moments where hey, maybe you don't feel so lonely, ya gotta appreciate those. And those friends I have, yea, I'm resolving to make sure they know they're the best people I've ever met and make me want to be a better person. Yep, you. You know who you are. and if you're reading this and you know that's it's not you, then I'm really not sorry. So basically, be a better person, yada yada, be smart and make it through this semester of school without passing out, and snag some good grades along the way.

I read this list of 100 things every 20 something needs to realize, and I loved it. Here's a link if you want it. http://elitedaily.com/life/the-100-things-every-20-something-needs-to-realize/ clicky clicky

The kitten we have, Kitty, she smells really bad when she poops. She stinks up the whole house. but she's so cute it cancels out the smell  I think. Everyone has their flaws and their quirks. she wouldn't be the same kitty if she didn't have dangerously smelly poops. And that's what makes her Kitty. So the next time you are worried about what's wrong with you, know that most of the time, it doesn't outweigh your good stuff. Everyone's got good stuff. and it's all a balancing act. Nobody has like, an abundance of good stuff. and they're not human if they do. or very good at hiding their not-so-good stuff. Just think of it as a whole. all your goods and your bads are what make you You. nobody has the same good and bads. and if they do, they're most likely you're best friend. Stop stressing about your flaws and just focus on the balance.

Since I last posted, I've downloaded some good music, I've hosted a bunch of holiday parties, got spoiled rotten by santa claus, gone on a road trip skiing in Vermont (ate a lot of cheese and had a chocolate covered sugar waffle ON the ski slopes), learned how to play a new game (Terzetto) , bought two new novels (The Beautiful and the Damned, an Abundance of Katherines), kissed nobody at midnight on New Years Eve, won a game of Monopoly with some smooth negotiating , risky business moves, and a whole lot of luck, I've shoveled two driveways after a major snow storm, contacted spirits using a ouija board, watched a movie called Triangle which blew my mind into a thousand pieces with no remorse whatsoever, got into many arguments about Grilled vs. Fried things, took some embarrassing photos of myself and my friends, and got re-admitted to Lehigh for this upcoming semester.

I'm keeping this post short because I want to get current so I can go back to lengthier ones that are about shorter periods of time. I'm going to bed relatively early so I can wake up, pick up Emac and drive to Lehigh to finish up sophomore year. There are so many good things in store it's scary. Like legit giving me anxiety. Instead of being excited I've crossed the line and just decided to panic. But as they say, a little party never killed nobody. That has no significant relevance, but it does make sense if you don't think about it. Ya gotta be in from the feet up. Meaning you have to commit, and you have to be solid, starting with your feet. Dunno if that makes sense but I heard that somewhere, I don't even remember where I heard it but that's not the point. Picture you are a goldfish sitting on a table in a bag of water, like when you bring them home from the pet store. Now picture there are four small holes poked in the bag draining the water. That's what anxiety feels like. But most of the time it's in your head. I know that's the case for me. I also learned jealousy is not what you see, it's what you imagine. that's a fact. can vouch for that first hand. if you just stop imagine that everyone else is doing things you're not, or having more fun than you, or talking about you, I swear you'll be so much better off. Get rid of your FOMO. (Fear of Missing Out). Be the thing people fear missing out on. Make everything you're doing seem like it's the thing to do, even if you're the only one doing it. Because if you're happy with what you're doing, who gives a damn what anyone else is doing? Poof. no more FOMO.

This post has no structure and organization and that's how I like it. I hope you all have a new year filled with everything you deserve. I mean that, really I do. I finally get to move forward with my college career and it feels good and scary and big and small and new and old at the same time. I'm a ball of emotions but as long as my good ones balance out my bad ones, it can't be too bad. Here's to 2014 and all it has in store.
